"We didn't know it at the time, but these three songs would be the last that we would ever do with Keegan,,.. Life moves weird ,..and for years, we were these same three guys ,.. " Says Drummer / Lead Vocalist Clark Haggins in 2019 "The Music World outside our city of Los Angeles was exploding and changing IN 1990,.. and we were somehow a part of that "indie" grunge sound of the underground but we weren't from those relevant areas ,.,..We were in Cali BUT,.. we weren't an L.A. Trouble was brewing within G.e. itself though, ,..Hagins' Sister Kathy Died In May of 90' and all kinds of South Bay related tensions were rising to surfaces,.. and definitely between Hagins and Keegan for sure,.. "I wanted the band to go in a T Shirt alternative rock direction and he wanted us to be like what later would emerge as stuff like Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam,..and we were good at that too,..I had this Stupid Eddie Vedder thing going with my vocals and fully anticipating that creep ,. ,..but WE WERE WAY BEFORE ALL THESE BANDS AND EVERYBODY KNEW IT ,.. WE WERE TOTAL GENIUSES,..PERFECTIONISTS,.. But our differences were prominent and me and Keegan kept bumping heads,..there was this sound I heard in my head that I couldn't QUITE put into focus or words yet AND IT DIDN'T QUITE EXIST YET EITHER !! ,.. but it wasn't anything like Metal at all ,..You've got to keep in mind, Greenhouse Effect were a big Los Angeles Band and with the hugest Buzz by 1990,..but our glory days were probably 1985 to 1988 ,..We were burnt out by 90' forsure.. but it was weird,..because that's when Alternative Grunge and Alternative heavy bands were blooming out of Seattle UP FAR NORTH ,..BUT WE WERE WAY BEFORE ALL THAT,..A LITTLE TOO AHEAD OF THE CURVE,..TOO FAR AHEAD OF OUR TIME,..I HAD GROWN UP LISTENING TO SO MUCH SST RECORDS STUFF ' Greg Ginn , Black Flag and shit,..,.. that by 90' I was already sick of it ,..and giving up,..and maybe curious about going more metal ,..like maybe G n R ,.. or something,.. But I didn't really want to ,..my heart was never in metal,... this caused a major conflict in G.e. ,.. Ted was into classic rock and some metal, Flipper was into Guitar dominated rock like Clapton but he could tolerate and accept metal ,.. but I was into 60's Yardbirds, Bowie, Baroque shit, the Who,.. and indie, alternative, punk,..the Pixies, m shit,..it was just not gonna work ,.." Although Coke Snorting was a big dynamic song, ...Hagins felt that this track and "Virus O' Syrus" were not the musical direction He wanted to go in,..while Keegan loved these 2 Songs,..and wanted more of them,... "We recorded this ONE song in this three track session of course That was called "WAITING FOR YOUR LOVE TO FAIL !" that you may have heard a time or two on Jango ,..,..AND "THAT' WAS THE SONG THAT I LIKED,..BUT FLIPPER was only luke warm about it ,..though just like me, he loved to play it LIVE !! " Looking back at G.e. now, Hagins sees the different kinds of genius and vision that he and Keegan ""BOTH HAD"" ,..FOR THE FUTURE OF ROCK MUSIC,.. "WE WERE BOTH ,..two very different kinds of cutting edge visionaries True creative souls ,. ,... the early Greenhouse Effect of Precarious, Number One, The Magic Man,..those were amazing great times,.. but then we began to "Grow" the sound ,.. I am hung up about this today ,.. Sometimes i lament maybe Flipper was right,.. or maybe I was,.. but then ,..In September of 1991, something would happen that almost erased both of us completely and made G.e. - and whatever it was - instantly suddenly irrelevant ,.. !! ALMOST ENTIRELY GONE ,..AND FROM HISTORY ,.... AND ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS TOO !! IT TOOK A LOTTA' YEARS, THINKING, and time,..to bring it all back,..
